My Times And Yours

Psalms 31:15: My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

Some of the most important things we withhold from the Lord are our times. Are your times in your own hands or are they in God*s hand? The worst thing we can do is put our times into Satan*s hand. The battle for our time is the battle of our lifetime. It is a battle between God and Satan. In a very real sense, we cast the deciding vote and we do that many times each day. Sometimes we have to cast a vote per minute.

Clarke on Psalms 31:15: My times are in thy hand. The events of my life are under thy control. No danger can happen to me without thy foresight; thou seest what is prepared for or meditated against me; thou canst therefore deliver me from mine enemies.

British Family Bible: He declares his assurance that his life was not subject to the will of his enemies, but was at the disposal of God.

Family Bible Notes: The trials and changes of life and the hour of death. Though surrounded with enemies who sought his life, they could do nothing except what God suffered them.

John Wesley: All the affairs and events of my life, are wholly in thy power.

Matthew Poole: Are wholly in thy power, to dispose and order as thou seest fit, and not at all in mine enemies* power, who can do nothing against me, unless it be given them from above.

PLWL: It is not in their power to dispose of my life at their pleasure; no more than it is mine to appoint the time of my deliverance, which I leave to thy wisdom, O Lord, to whom it belongs: only beseeching thee, at present, to rescue me from falling into the hands of my enemies; and at last, when thou judgest it most fit, to free me from their persecution.

Thomas Scott: The Psalmist well knew, that the times of his troubles and deliverance, and the continuance and period of his life, were entirely at God*s disposal; and as he would not attempt to anticipate the Lord*s appointed time by killing Saul, he was persuaded that Saul could not succeed in his attempts to slay him; and that infinite wisdom and love would bring about his deliverance and advancement to the throne, when the proper season was arrived. Thus the counsels and decrees of the Jewish rulers against our Lord were continually disappointed for several years, because his time was not yet come.

Psalms 34:1: I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Psalms 69:13: But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.

Isaiah 49:8: Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;

Lamentations 3:22: It is of the LORD*S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Job 7:17: What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him? 18 And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment?

2 Corinthians 4:16: For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
